The South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coach Had The Wrong Answer When Asked If Trans Women Should Be Allowed To Compete

Dawn Staley, the coach of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team was recently asked if she supports transgender women playing women’s college basketball. Her response was honestly kind of shocking to me.

First of all, why was she so caught off guard by this question? She is the head coach of a women’s college basketball team. This can’t be the first time she has been asked this question. Secondly, the fact that she supports trans women in college sports astounds me. Dawn Staley was a female college athlete. She coaches female college athletes. You would think that she of all people would see that a man dressed as a woman competing against biological women is not fair or okay. But here we are. She is correct, a lot of people are going to be upset with her and blow her up on social media. And you know what? They should. That is not an acceptable response. ESPECIALLY from a former female athlete, currently coaching other female athletes.
