VIDEO: Monk Superglues Hand to Starbucks Counter to Protest “Vegan Upcharge”

The news can be such a drag sometimes…

It seems like everywhere we look there’s nothing but downer news stories that hurt our wallets, our faith, or our brains. Well… to be fair, this’ll probably hurt your brain too, but it made me giggle.

How far would you go to protest the price of vegan milk?

Police in Chicago, Illinois have arrested two people for gluing their hands to a Starbucks store counter in the city’s Loop on Wednesday morning.

Protesters with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals glued their hands to the Starbucks counter while demanding that the coffee-chain stop charging extra for plant-based milk products, according to FOX 32 Chicago.

A Starbucks spokesperson told Fox News “We respect our customers’ rights to respectfully voice their opinions so long as it does not disrupt our store operations.”

“Starbucks’ punitive price hike on vegan milks is bad for cows, bad for the planet, and bad for lactose-intolerant customers, many of whom are people of color,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA will stick to Starbucks like glue until it agrees to drop the vegan upcharge.”

If it costs more to make, it usually costs more for you to buy… is that not common knowledge anymore? I was also unaware that monks drank Starbucks coffee with vegan milk, but maybe I’m out of touch…

I gotta admit, I admire the passion. I would probably try gluing my hand to the gas pump to protest the blind robbery we’re lookin’ at in that department, but to each their own…

Did he check to see if the superglue he used was tested on animals? Asking for a friend…
